Heart valve replacement cases are considered by the Aeromedical Certification Division of the FAA on a case by case basis. Aviation Medical Examiners (AME’s) cannot approve most heart valve certification and will defer the application to Oklahoma City FAA for authorization. The deferral process usually takes 4-6 months without our service.
